Youth Championship for people with disabilities starts in Sanaa

The Youth Championship for people with motor and visual disability started in Sanaa on Monday including the games of Goal Ball for the Blind , Chess for the Disabled and the Blind, Volleyball and Weightlifting for the Disabled and Basketball for Disabled Girls.

A total of 105 players will take part in the four-day event organized by the General Federation of Sport for Persons with Disabilities, who represent clubs, centers, associations of the blind, the physically handicapped, war wounded and the duty with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Fund for the care and rehabilitation of the disabled, youth and under the supervision of the Yemeni Paralympic Committee.

At the opening of the tournament, which was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Hassan zaid, President of the Federation Nasser Hameed highlighted the importance of the tournament, which comes as a kicking off for the Federation’s activities for the year and its sports program for 2019.

He noted that the organization of the tournament will contribute to the discovery of the talents and abilities of players with disabilities to form strong teams to participate in external championships.
