SH.A.

The Supreme Political Council has introduced a unilateral initiative on government employees’ salaries. It reads as follows:

Within the framework of the Stockholm understandings of the economic side, which included that both parties provide all the revenues of the country in favor of the salaries of employees where the mechanism formulation should later be completed in a subsequent meeting in the Jordanian capital Amman. However, the other party renounced such commitment to proceed with those understandings and thwarted any positive move in this direction.

Given the situation of the people of Yemen due to the unjust blockade and unfair economic restrictions and the disruption of salaries of the employees in the Republic of Yemen, and in order to remove all claims and justifications that contribute to the continued suffering of the Yemeni people without any reason, and to neutralize the economy and everything that affects the lives of citizens and exacerbates the humanitarian crisis, and as an act of substantiation, the Supreme Political Council introduce a unilateral initiative directing the government to establish an identifiable bank account in the Central Bank of Yemen branch of the Hodeidah governorate, which all revenues from the three ports (Hodeidah, Ras Issa, Salif) would go to this specific bank account so that they are used to pay salaries to all Yemenis.

The other party shall bear full responsibility in case of evasion and repudiation of the understanding made on the economic matter during the consultations of Sweden, which this initiative expresses letter and spirit of the convention. We also warn that the other side must bear all the consequences that will result from the continued imposition of unjust economic restrictions and its use of the economy as a tool of warfare, aggression, starvation and bargaining power.
