Quoted from al-Masirh.net, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Gargash, said that the UAE is an important part of the Saudi-led military alliance against Yemen and that his country will not leave Yemen despite the continued withdrawal and redeployment of UAE troops. “We will continue to provide advice and assistance to local Yemeni forces,” he said in an article published by the Washington Post on Tuesday.
Earlier this month, the UAE announced that it would withdraw and redeploy its troops in Yemen, where the 5 years-long conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen has pushed the the people of Yemen into famine.
“While the United Arab Emirates is retreating and redeploying its forces in Yemen, we are doing it the same way we started – with eyes wide open,” he said. “There was no easy victory and there would be no easy peace,” but it is time to double the political process.
