The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation warned of a situation threatening the agricultural sector and the most important sources of food security as a result of the continued detention of oil derivatives vessels by the Saudi-led coalition. The US-backed coalition forces are preventing a number of the oil tanker-ships from entering the port of Hodeidah.

The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Abdulmalik Al-Thawr, said to the Yemeni Saba agency that “the detention of oil derivatives vessels poses a threat to the agricultural sector and negatively affects the production of agricultural crops that depend on irrigation water from wells.”

The Minister of Agriculture called on the international community, the United Nations and all international organizations to take their responsibility to stop the war, lift the siege and allow the entry of oil derivatives.

The Yemen Oil Company has announced yesterday the increase in the number of oil derivatives ships held offshore at the ports of Hodeidah, by a coalition led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, despite warnings of catastrophic humanitarian consequences. The Oil Company explained that the number of oil derivatives ships held by the Saudi-UAE-led war alliance at sea “has become after the addition of the new ships nine ships, which have been inspected and licensed internationally.”

The Yemen Oil Company revealed that the remaining oil stock is only enough for more than ten days maximum, warning of a humanitarian disaster in Yemen, the largest of its kind in the world, in various vital sectors.
