Human Rights Ministry condemns American authorities’ crackdown on Pro-Palestine protesters in universities

44

The Ministry of Human Rights strongly condemned the violations, repression, and arrests carried out by the US authorities against pro-Palestine protesters in American universities.

The Ministry in its statement denounced the intimidation tactics practiced by the American authorities to silence, harass, intimidate protesters, and threaten university administrations with further arrests if protests continue.

The statement highlighted that the protests in American universities have revealed the cruelty and violence exercised by the administration of this country towards peaceful assemblies, despite America boasting about freedom of peaceful assembly.

It clarified that “it is no longer hidden that America has the largest number of prisoners in the world and is among the countries with the highest rates of torture in its record.”

The Ministry indicated that America has violated human rights and basic freedoms in recent decades. Today, it stands before the international popular will to stop the aggression and siege on Gaza, and continues to violate the sovereignty of Yemen and other countries.

It said that the US committed crimes in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya under the pretext of establishing democracy, which led to the killing of millions of civilians, including women and children.

The Ministry reaffirmed its support for student protest movements in America and similar protests in European countries against the Zionist entity and its supporters, including America, Britain, France, Germany, and others.

It appreciated the humanitarian stance of American university students, expressing an increase in societal awareness of the Palestinian issue and the brutal Israeli practices in Gaza.

The ministry reiterated its demands for international human rights mechanisms and laws to fulfill their fundamental duty to end the widespread and serious violations of human rights by the Zionist entity with American and European support in Gaza.

It also called on international humanitarian efforts to hold accountable the perpetrators of these crimes and their Western supporters.
