Khamenei Calls for Netanyahu’s Execution, Cites ICC Arrest Warrants for War Crimes
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, declared that an arrest warrant is insufficient for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating, “Netanyahu’s death sentence must be ordered.” His remarks were made during a meeting with members of the Iranian Basij volunteer force on Monday, as part of Basij Week celebrations.
Khamenei’s comments follow the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli war minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes related to the ongoing military campaign in Gaza. Both leaders face arrest if they travel to any of the 124 nations that are signatories to the Rome Statute of the ICC.
Criticism of Israeli Aggression
Addressing the conflict in Gaza and Lebanon, Khamenei condemned the bombing of civilian homes, calling it a “crime, not a victory.” He asserted that Israel has failed in its wars against Gaza and Lebanon and would continue to do so.
Praises for the Basij Force
Khamenei hailed the Basij as a counterforce to global hegemonic powers, emphasizing its role in preserving Iran’s capabilities and defending national sovereignty. He credited the volunteer force with disrupting U.S. plans, including a thwarted uranium enrichment deal, and emphasized its continued importance in confronting threats from Israel and the United States.
“The Basij will definitely destroy the Zionist regime,” Khamenei stated, urging the force to maintain readiness and expand its influence.
Iran’s Scientific Achievements
The Leader highlighted the Basij’s contributions to Iran’s scientific advancements, including producing 20-percent enriched uranium for radiopharmaceuticals. This achievement, Khamenei noted, foiled what he described as a U.S. “evil conspiracy” aimed at undermining Iran’s nuclear progress.
Khamenei’s remarks reinforced Iran’s defiant stance amid escalating regional tensions and its opposition to U.S. and Israeli policies.
