Yemen condemns escalating US aggression

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the capital Sana’a has strongly condemned the continued US aggression against the country, citing the latest attack on a residential area in al-Hawak district of Hodeida province, which according to preliminary official statistics resulted in the deaths of 11 civilians, including five women and four children, and injured 16 others.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the ministry highlighted that the US aggression since mid-March has killed 107 civilians and injured 223 others, predominantly women and children, characterizing it as a blatant violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and international law.

The ministry asserted that the US aggression violate the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.

It further stated that the US aggression is an extension of the decade-long Saudi-led coalition’s aggression and warned that continued escalation will be met with a stronger response.

The statement clarified that those threatening Red Sea navigation are the external forces militarizing the area. Yemen’s actions in the Red Sea are a response to the international community’s failure to end the blockade and “genocidal crimes” against Palestinians, especially after the US veto in the Security Council and the “abandonment” of Palestinians by Arab and Islamic nations.

The ministry called on the international community to condemn the US aggression, which it claims threatens regional and global security.

It expressed gratitude for the nations and individuals who have already condemned the attacks, reiterating Yemen’s right to self-defense under international law.

The US was held responsible for regional instability, Red Sea tensions, and threats to international navigation. The ministry concluded that regional security depends on ending the aggression and blockade on Gaza and ensuring Palestinian rights.
