Yemeni Foreign Minister Sends Protest Message To Security Council, UN Organizations
Foreign Minister Jamal Amer in Sana’a sent on Saturday a letter of protest to the President of the United Nations General Assembly, the President of the Security Council, and the UN Secretary-General regarding the ongoing US aggression against Yemen, now in its second month.
Amer emphasized that the aggression demonstrates Washington’s disregard for international law and resembles the crimes of nineteenth-century colonialism.
He explained that the US airstrikes target the Yemeni people and civilians without justification as punishment for their rejection of the crimes against Palestinians in Gaza.
The foreign minister affirmed that the US is targeting economic facilities to harm the Yemeni people, noting the bombing of the Ras Isa oil port, which seeks to deprive the people of fuel, and in the face of this, the humanitarian crisis is escalating.
He spoke of targeting paramedics as a war crime, affirming the need to protect medical transport in accordance with the Geneva Conventions and international law.
Amer stated that Yemen is committed to international law and the UN Charter in protecting maritime navigation and that its targeting is limited to ships of the Zionist entity to stop the aggression against Gaza.
He concluded by calling on the Security Council and the United Nations to defend international law and confront the US aggression, affirming Yemen’s right to self-defense.
