Cargo Planes Arrive for the First Time in Three Years to Deir Ezzor Airbase

Large cargo planes have landed at the Deir Ezzor military airport. The cargo planes brought supplies and equipment for the Syrian forces in order to support the fight against SIS. In addition, some supplies are for some civilians who live nearby the provincial capital.
According to a Syrian military source, two large cargo planes landed safely at the Deir Ezzor military airport early this morning. The aircraft carried with them supplies and equipment.
This event comes for the first time in over three years that airlifters have landed at the strategic airbase to the southeast of Deir Ezzor city.
The landing of large cargo planes at the Deir Ezzor military airport became possible again after the Syrian forces secured the towns of Jafrah and Mariyah as well as the nearby Thardah Mountain which dominates the terrain in the the area around Deir Ezzor city.
