Syrian government condemns US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israeli capital

The Syrian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Wednesday that denounced the Trump regime’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel.
“The Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the decision by President Donald Trump to move the US embassy to occupied Jerusalem and recognize it as the capital of the Israeli occupation, which is a crime that furthers the plight of Palestine and the displacement of the Palestinian people,” an official from the Syrian Foreign Minister told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
“To recognize this capital of the Zionist entity in the heart the Arab world is an attempt impose their hegemony on an Arab nation,” the official continued.
Moreover, Trump is expected to declare the U.S.’ decision to transfer their embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem later today.
