What did Ould Cheikh say about appointment of a new UN envoy to Yemen?

The Former UN envoy Mauritanian Ismail Ould Cheikh welcomed the appointment of his British successor, Martin Griffith, to be the UN Secretary-General’s envoy to Yemen to start moving the political process.

“I welcome the appointment of Martin Griffith as a new special envoy to Yemen and I wish him the best success in his new difficult responsibility,” Ould Cheikh said in Twitter on his Twitter account.

He added : “the Yemenis would benefit from “Martin’s long-term experience in complex humanitarian issues and conflict mediation in order to reach a peaceful and lasting solution for Yemen.”

In the same context,Yemen’s government welcomed the appointment of the new envoy and expressed the hope that his mission would begin by demanding an end to the war and lifting of the siege.
