Tens of thousands of Yemeni civilians have been fleeing the western coast as violent ground and air attacks in the raging battle came close to the western coastal port city of Hodeidah, Amnesty International warned in a statement on its website on Thursday.
It warned that “the worst could be yet to come after carrying out a field investigation in the south of the country.”
The organization said it interviewed 34 civilians who arrived in Aden after the clashes displaced them from several villages and towns in Hodeidah province between January and early May.
“They spoke of terrifying mortar attacks, air strikes, landmines and other dangers amid the new air offensive,” Amensty said, referring to the US-backed Saudi-led coalition attacks.
