A senior official reiterated Iran’s stance that the situation in war-torn Yemen and Syria should be resolved diplomatically without foreign interference.

“From the outset Iran emphasized that a political solution should be found to the crises in Syria and Yemen and has maintained that the military intervention by the United States and its allies undermines the stability and security in the region,” said Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, an advisor to the Majlis speaker.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Pascale Baeriswyl, state secretary at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, in Tehran in reference to a coalition of Arab forces led by Saudi Arabia and supported by the US, which launched a military intervention on Yemen in 2015.

Amir-Abdollahian also criticized the West’s silence on “systematic human rights violations” in Yemen and Bahrain, saying that it only worsens the humanitarian crisis gripping the Middle East.

As well as ”Iran would spare no effort to help put an end to Yemen’s war,” said a senior Foreign Ministry diplomat during talks with European officials on the crisis in Yemen.
