The truth behind America’s call for a ceasefire in Yemen

US Secretary of Defense James Mattis called for a peace process in Yemen, saying that it was time to stop the war in Yemen; in addition, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said it is time to stop the war in Yemen and to halt combat operations. For sure, these coordinated calls from these two secretaries didn’t come from anywhere, especially as the tone is very different from the previous ones, which reflect the actual changes in the US position on the war that is led by Saudi Arabia and UAE in Yemen since the beginning of it, three and a half years ago.
But while we see this new shift in the US position, we continue to doubt the credibility of the US administration’s calls for peace, especially since it included multiple of preconditions as part of a US-brokered plan to solve the conflict, which includes the disarmament from the leadership of Sana’a, which was met with a quick rejection by the Ansar Allah component.
Therefore, the question that should be asked is why America deliberately put a plan for the solution in Yemen with preconditions, which are rejected in advance by the component of the Ansar Allah and all the national forces, and was originally rejected in all previous negotiating forums. Let’s assume that America has real intentions to end the war in Yemen, why did it include such impossible requirements that are not conducive to any kind of solution at all?
We still have to know exactly what is behind the current US peace calls, though we are certain that America has never sought for any real peace to end any conflict in any country, especially if this conflict is managed by proxy to preserve its economy and national interests in any country that are threatened by America, and when it declares peace solutions, it usually accompanied by preparations for a bigger, more destructive and violent escalation scenario in those countries. This is not strange because it was applied in the war in Yemen, where every time the partis within the conflict start any peace negotiations, vast escalations against Yemen starts.
This is why America’s peace is never reliable, and Iraq and Afghanistan are models of this. They have been in war for more than 17 years that is run by the White House through proxy countries, whose destructive effects are still going on today. The war in Yemen was launched under misleading titles and propaganda so they can accomplish their destructive plans. American interests are above all considerations and as long as these interests are not endangered with any kind of threat that affects them; consequently, America will not stop continuing to ignite the wars against any threat. It is obvious that the Ansar Allah party is considered a major threat for the US; thus, the US will try to demolish them within the next held negotiation in the next month.
That is why we say that our hearts are full of doubt that the upcoming negotiations, which will be attended by the UN envoy to Yemen, “Martin Griffith” under the supervising of the US, will not be enough to bring full peace in Yemen. The United States, which has lost militarily by betting on the Saudi-led coalition to achieve its objectives, is currently seeking to achieve these goals politically and specifically through the upcoming negotiations, and that when Mattis put these preconditions for the peace plan, he wanted Ansar Allah political party to recognize and accept them.
As we well know, the Ansar Allah movement categorically rejects this plan, which means that there is a large percentage that America will still continue to push the Saudi-led coalition to an endless war with Yemen, and this is the most likely to happen. However, there might be a chance that there is a real radical change in the American position and its inability to help the kingdom with its war on Yemen, which has sunk in the blood of Yemeni civilians and was exposed for its bloodiest crimes in the American streets. Therefore, the success of stopping the war on Yemen cannot be ignored. We do not want to preempt the events because the upcoming days will decide.
As a last remark, I want to tell you that if America had a desire for peace in Yemen, it would be just enough to stop supporting the warplanes of Saudi Arabia and UAE and, I assure you, the war on Yemen would stop automatically within only three days
