The Yemeni army forces have been playing a significant role in defending the country against the Saudi-led coalition , backed by the US, since the onset of the war by the coalition.

Their missile force on Tuesday published pictures showing the first experiment of the ballistic missile Badr-F with a blast-fragmentation warhead, which was unveiled earlier on Tuesday .

Spokesman for Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree said on Tuesday that their new Badr-F ballistic missile would have a range of 160 kilometers, which shows a nearly 30-kilometer increase from their old version of the Badr-1P missile.

He added that the new missile would explode 20 meters above the center of the designated target and would scatter some 14,000 pieces of shrapnel in a circular area with a radius of 350 meters.

“The discovery of the new ballistic missile comes coinciding with the first anniversary of the martyrdom of President Saleh Al-Sammad,”  Brigadier General Sare’e said in his conference today. “The blood of martyr president Al-Sammad has not and will not be wasted, and that he will remain the model and example in exertion, asceticism, sincerity, determination, determination, dedication and patience.”

The Yemeni army has designed and developed a number of missiles, including the high-precision Badr P-1 ballistic missile, during the past four years.

Saree also showed videos, provided by the media bureau of Yemen’s Operations Command Center, of the new missile in action, adding that the Yemeni army had already used the missile to target camps belonging to Saudi-led Sudanese soldiers stationed on the Saudi-Yemeni border.

Brigadier Sare’e had reviewed in his press conference field trials of the field ballistic missile, Badr F, including the targeting of gatherings of the coalition’s paid fighters in the border fronts and internal fronts, which showed the great potential of the new Yemeni missile.

The Brigadier confirmed that Yemen has a strategic Stockpile of missiles, and that new targets have been listed within the objectives of the Yemeni army forces. He pointed out that when we talk about a Yemeni Ballistic Missile manufacturing, we are talking about different systems of rockets owned by the army. Yemen will reveal more about them during the coming days.

In March 2015, the US -backed –Saudi-led coalition started  a war against Yemen with the declared aim of crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement, who had taken over from the staunch Riyadh ally and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, while also seeking to secure the Saudi border with its southern neighbor. Three years and over 600,000 dead and injured Yemeni people and  prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country, the war has yielded little to that effect.

Despite the coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

However, Saudi Arabia relies heavily on the US in its brutal war on Yemen. Washington has deployed a commando force on the Arab kingdom’s border with Yemen to help destroy arms belonging to Yemen’s popular Houthi Ansarullah movement. Washington has also provided logistical support and aerial refueling.
