Member of the Supreme Political Council, Mohamed Ali Al-Houthi, described US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s statement on peace in Yemen as “misleading”, dismissing any US encroachment on the Stockholm Agreement and its implementation plan.

“Pompeo represents the policy of the White House administration, which rejected the congressional resolution (that would withdraw US support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen) and its president vetoed against it,”  Al-Houthi said in Twitter on Monday.

“Pompeo’s statement serves the objectives that reject ending the aggression on Yemen. It is an attempt to continue the war and to maintain the flow of Gulf funds to the US treasury as declared by Trump.”

Al-Houthi noted that Pompeo’s statement on peace misleads and confirms that the meeting of the quadripartite of aggression was for escalation and not for peace.

“We are with the implementation of the agreement announced by the envoy for our consent at the Security Council meeting without any circumvention,” he added.
