The coalition’s economical war tortures Yemenis to death

The economic crisis caused by the Saudi-led coalition, backed by the US, is of such a magnitude and the need for relief is so urgent that much more will be required. Ending the coalition war and siege, that destroyed Yemen and starved people, is a necessary step in preventing one of the largest modern famines from claiming the lives of millions of people.
Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Najeeb Mansour Al-Auj. said his country needs at least $28 billion for economic and development reconstruction over the next four years.
Al-Auj said in remarks to the Arabiya Al-Hadath news channel yesterday that the Yemeni ministers are making progress in discussions with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and international institutions to facilitate the flow of funds to the Central Bank of Yemen.
Hidden goals revealed by a report published on the site of the “Washington Institute,” interested in studying the Middle East, in a report issued by the “Georgetown Strategic Group,” the report dealt with the reasons of the economic crisis in Yemen. The report exposes an other plot to target the sovereignty of the nation under the titles of humanity and emergency steps to save the economy. The recommendations are covered with mercy but in reality the pose serious violation of the sovereignty and independence of Yemen. In addition, the report showed that this economic war on Yemen is solely run by the U.S. especially after the U.S Deputy Secretary of Defense came out to call for the implementation of these recommendations. The plot was revealed in the report under the economic road-map for humanitarian relief in Yemen – where the report suggested that the dollar should be used in the Yemeni economy by “the central bank converting the US dollar.
The economic war and the systematic starvation of millions of Yemenis have recently entered a new phase. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in February 2019, an estimated 80 per cent of the population – 24 million people – require some form of humanitarian or protection assistance, including 14.3 million who are in acute need. The US-Saudi war, which Riyadh said “to save the Yemenis”, led Yemen to a complete collapse, causing the worst Humanitarian crisis in the world between displacement, famine and cholera, according to the United Nations.
The Legal Center of Rights and Freedoms has revealed that Saudi-led coalition aircrafts have destroyed 28,000 service and economic facilities in Yemen during the past four years.
The total number of destroyed economic facilities reached 15,378, including 347 factories, 637 commercial markets, 7,489 commercial facilities, 759 food stores, 631 food trucks, 365 fuel stations, 265 fuel tankers, 4,166 transport vehicles, 336 chicken and cattle farms, and 433 fishing boats.
Supreme Revolutionary Committee Head, Mohamed Ali Al-Houthi, explained that “the US-Saudi aggression and its mercenaries refusal to have a dialogue on the economic dossier confirms that they are behind the collapse of the currency and the suspension of salaries. ” This crime is targeting the whole Yemen people and “those employees whose salaries have been suspended since the transfer of the bank’s duties to Aden,” Al-Houthi said in a tweet.
The Supreme Economic Committee expressed its surprise at the silence of the UN-envoy’s office in Yemen, as well as the United Nations organizations, regarding the coalition economic war against the Yemeni People. This silence reflects the level of sincerity to the international approach in solving the humanitarian and Yemeni issues in general.
In March 2015, the US -backed –Saudi-led coalition started a war against Yemen with the declared aim of crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement, who had taken over from the staunch Riyadh ally and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, while also seeking to secure the Saudi border with its southern neighbor. Three years and over 600,000 dead and injured Yemeni people and prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country, the war has yielded little to that effect.
Despite the coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
However, Saudi Arabia relies heavily on the US in its brutal war on Yemen. Washington has deployed a commando force on the Arab kingdom’s border with Yemen to help destroy arms belonging to Yemen’s popular Houthi Ansarullah movement. Washington has also provided logistical support and aerial refueling.
