Tens of mothers of detainees and abductees on Tuesday held a protest rally to demand release of their sons detained in secret prisons run by United Arab Emirates forces, main part of the Saudi-led coalition, backed by the US, in Aden city, southern Yemen, under the control of UAE.

The protesters raised slogans and banners condemning torture operations against the detainees and abductees in the prisons in the southern provinces, asking the coalition -backed resigned Hadi’s authorities to take some responsibilities towards the UAE prisons, which arrested and tortured hundreds of citizens.

Over 49 detainees were , last year, tortured to death in clandestine prisons run by the UAE in southern Yemen where brutal interrogation techniques, including physical and psychological torture, are used by Emirati forces, a report says.

Amnesty International says the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and its allied local paid fighters have been torturing captives at a network of clandestine prisons in southern Yemen.

The UK-based rights group further revealed in a statement that large numbers of Yemeni men had been subjected to enforced disappearance after being arbitrarily arrested by the Emirati and paid fighter forces.

In other hand, the member of the Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi ,called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to condemn crimes and violations committed against prisoners in prisons of the coalition’s paid fighters.

During his meeting in Sanaa with Director of Operations at ICRC headquarter in Geneva Dominik Stillhart, who is currently visiting Yemen, al-Houthi demanded that the Committee should have a great role in protecting the prisoners from torture, slaughter and murder and addressing their issue.

In May, the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs presented an initiative that included an initial exchange in which a minimum of 1,000 prisoners from both sides are to be released on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, but the Saudi-led party ignored the initiative.

In March 2015, the US -backed –Saudi-led coalition started  a war against Yemen with the declared aim of crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement, who had taken over from the staunch Riyadh ally and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, while also seeking to secure the Saudi border with its southern neighbor. Three years and over 600,000 dead and injured Yemeni people and  prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country, the war has yielded little to that effect.

Despite the coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

More than 2,200 others have died of cholera, and the crisis has triggered what the United Nations has described as the world’s worst humanitarian disaster.
