Yemeni patients suffer to death

Officials expressed resentment at the United Nations ignoring the continued US-Saudi siege on Sana’a Airport and turning its back on the thousands. “Three years ago the airport was closed and we are in this way in organizing and conducting nation flights at a rate of three to four flights a day,” Abdullah al-Hamdani, head of Sana’a airport’s air traffic control, told YemenExra.
He added, “we have not seen during the three years of the air embargo on the airport any humanitarian or civilian flight despite the need for thousands of patients and critical cases to travel abroad.” For his part, the deputy head of the air traffic control at Sana’a Airport Asaad al-Eryani expressed his regret that the airport’s tasks are limited to the conduct of international flights in light of the urgent need for thousands of patients from our people for medical flights, pointing out that “we have not received since the closure of the airport on the 9th of August 2016 no private aircraft for commercial or civil flights and the airport became exclusive to United Nations aircraft. ”
Minister of Health Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakil called on the United Nations to speed up the implementation of the Air Medical Bridge to transport critical medical conditions for treatment abroad. Al-Mutawakil told Al-Masirah TV that tens of thousands of patients are suffering because of the lack of potential in the country, and there are at least 30 thousand patients annually need treatment outside Yemen.
He said that “there are many agreements with the United Nations for the transfer of critical cases and in the last minut the US-Saudi aggression prevents the arrival of aircrafts to the airport in Sana’a.”
He pointed to a number of patients who were to be transferred within the Air Medical Bridge from the first batch died as a result of the aggression prevented transfer to receive treatment.
Saudi forces on Sunday closed Aden International Airport and forced all incoming flights to divert towards Seiyun International Airport.
Media sources confirmed that local authorities in Aden, whether loyal to “Hadi” government or to the southern transition, have become unaware of what the Saudi forces wants in Aden.
The sources pointed out that among the flights that were forced to divert, a Yemeni flight was coming from India with the bodies of Yemeni patients who died there.
In March 2015, the US -backed –Saudi-led coalition started a war against Yemen with the declared aim of crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement, who had taken over from the staunch Riyadh ally and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, while also seeking to secure the Saudi border with its southern neighbor. Three years and over 600,000 dead and injured Yemeni people and prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country, the war has yielded little to that effect.
Despite the coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
More than 2,200 others have died of cholera, and the crisis has triggered what the United Nations has described as the world’s worst humanitarian disaster.
