“Iranian FM Signals Operation ‘True Promise III’ in Response to Israeli Airstrikes”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Tuesday that Iran will respond to recent Israeli airstrikes on its military facilities with a calculated operation named *True Promise III*, at “an appropriate time and manner.” His remarks came during a conference held for commanders and personnel of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in Tehran.
Addressing questions from IRGC commanders regarding the timing of the operation, Araghchi emphasized that the Israeli attacks, which targeted military sites in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces on October 26, constituted “a new act of aggression.” He assured that Iran retains its right to respond decisively but would do so strategically to avoid escalating the situation further.
“Our reaction will be deliberate, considering the broader circumstances and potential traps set against Iran,” Araghchi stated, underlining that any retaliation would seek to prevent a wider conflict while sending a clear message of deterrence. “We must demonstrate strength and readiness for war to avert it,” he added.
The Israeli assault, conducted using US-controlled airspace over Iraq, resulted in limited damage to radar systems but claimed the lives of five individuals, including four Army officers. Iran’s air defense systems reportedly intercepted much of the attack.
Araghchi also highlighted the importance of building a political deterrence strategy, calling for regional solidarity to counter Israel’s actions. He argued that aligning military preparedness with regional consensus would act as a “defensive shield” against further hostilities.
This statement comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, with Iran signaling its intent to balance measured retaliation with efforts to prevent broader war.
