Massive Marches In Tunisia Denouncing The Continued Israeli Aggression
The Tunisian capital and various governorates of the republic witnessed massive public marches denouncing the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and in solidarity with their legitimate struggle against the Israeli killing machine.
These marches came in response to the calls of several civil society associations and organizations, unions, and student syndicates, and within the framework of the Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The General Union of Tunisian Students also called for them, with widespread participation from university and institute students from across the country.
The marches set off from institutes and universities across all Tunisian governorates, concentrating on Habib Bourguiba Avenue in front of the Municipal Theater in downtown Tunis.
Demonstrators raised Palestinian and Tunisian flags, chanted slogans affirming the unity of destiny and popular solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and rejected the crimes of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.
The demonstrators chanted slogans in support of Palestine, denouncing the inactive international position in the face of the ongoing massacres, and affirming that victory is inevitable for the steadfast Palestinian people.
During the march, student Fares Khaled, from the Higher School of Science and Design Technologies in the Denden district of Bardo, was martyred after falling while attempting to pin the Palestinian flag to one of the institute’s masts.
The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Tunisia mourned the martyred student, praising his high patriotic spirit and genuine solidarity.
The marches, as a whole, affirmed that the Palestinian cause has been and will remain alive in the conscience of the Tunisian people, and that the popular struggle against the Israeli enemy enjoys broad popular support from across Tunisian society.
