On Saturday, a small Daesh convoy came under fire from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) while traveling from rural Hama towards Raqqa province, likely to defend Daesh capital from advancing Kurdish forces.

Upon observing the rebel belligerents from afar, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) targeted Daesh’s  vehicles with missiles and artillery shells close to the Wadi Auzaib region, not far from the main road between Ithriyah and Salamiyah which also composes the most vulnerable section of the supply route to Aleppo.

Due to the SAA ambush, at least four Daesh militants were killed. In addition, a vehicle packed with armaments was demolished along with two motorcycles. Thereafter, government forces stormed the burning convoy and captured a SPG-9 rocket launcher and two PK machine guns, and then pulled back to their original outpost.

Meanwhile, the SAA’s Tiger Forces – alongside elements of the 5th Legion and Al-Baqir tribal fighters –liberated 11 villages from Daesh earlier in the day, thereby securing the Jabbul Lake and seizing a large chunk of the Maskanah Plains.
