The Defense Minister of Qatar , Khalid Al-Attiyah, said in an interview with Turkish channel TRT World, that its country was being forced to participated in Saudi-led Coalition in Yemen.
He added ” participation in the military option in Yemen was contrary to its vision in dealing with crises and problems”, adding we found ourselves bound to join the so-called Arab alliance that waged aggression against Yemen.
“We are part of the Gulf Cooperation Council and we also have our own vision to address the situation in Yemen. We believe in dialogue and development as the shortest way to solve problems such as those in Yemen. When people find hope, they will forget extremism,” he said.
“Unfortunately, we found ourselves obliged to join the coalition.”
The Qatari defense minister said that his country’s forces did not enter Yemen, and that their participation was limited to protecting the borders of Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, the coalition announced on June 5, ending Qatar’s participation in the alliance.
